Testing, Promotion, and Advancement
The steps and procedures for testing through the East West Tang Soo Do Collective are as follows:
1) Obtain a letter of recommendation from a Tang Soo Do master instructor who is senior to you. They do not need to be a member of the East West Tang Soo Do Collective. If you do not have someone who can provide this, please contact us and we will set you up with someone who can train with and evaluate you and provide this recommendation when the time comes.
2) Submit the testing application. You will need to answer some questions and provide some documentation in order to determine eligibility.
3) Schedule the grading. We will work with you to find a date, time, and location that works for you. An examination panel of at least 3 masters who are senior to you must be present. One panel member must be at least 2 rank levels higher than you. This requirement may be waived if an 8th or 9th Dan Grandmaster is on the panel. The panel will be responsible for the content of your test.
4) Post test conference. A representative from the examination panel will meet with you and go over the test results.
5) Schedule promotion. If you pass the grading with a unanimous approval from the panel, you will be promoted at a time and location of your choosing.
The East West Tang Soo Do Collective is also affiliated with The World Dang Soo Do Union and The Worldwide Tang Soo Do Family which provides us with additional training, events, and opportunities at the national and international level.
